Spring
Chicken Early Bird!
Winter has finally loosened it's grip, the ice melted last weekend
and the waters of the bay are open again, and those harbingers of Spring,
Early Birds John and Reen Wickett are chirping about the FIRST
EARLY BIRD DINNER ON APRIL 16th, after OUTSIDE CLUB SCRUB! 5pm
Happy Hour, 6pm Dinner; and don't forget to bring your own place settings!
Click the link and print out the "Early Bird Flier" to post on your refrigerator
as a reminder!
Outside Club Scrub, Saturday,
April 16th, 9am
Patty & Tommy Rodriguez, that delightful pair that go together
as well as, well, Buildings and Grounds, ask us all to take note of OUTSIDE
CLUB SCRUB, on Saturday, April 16th, starting at 9am. Tommy says to
please bring some of your tools; rakes, trimmers, etc. Tommy wore his Marine
Corps hat to the Board meeting, and while chewing on a three-penny nail
said something about "softhanded office geeks like you might get a leeeeetle
blister..." by which I think he meant to remind us all to remember to bring
gloves! Coffee and donuts will be ready by 9.
Would you be interested
in taking a State Required Power
Driven Vessel Course?
All persons operating a a personal watercraft (PWC), or teenagers
operating a power driven vessel alone, in New York State, are required
to take a Power Squadron "BOAT SMART" class, or other state approved safety
course. One of SBYC's close neighbors happens to be a US Power Squadron
instructor, and has asked if there would be sufficient membership interest
in offering a Power
Squadron "BOAT SMART" class at SBYC. There is a $25 charge for course
material, $15 for second material in the same family (though course materials
can be shared). The course covers all the basics of boat terminology, seamanship,
navigation and safety. IF THERE IS SUFFICIENT MEMBER INTEREST, Tommy
Knapp will arrange a time and date for the class. Call or Email Fleet
Captain Knapp at: FleetCaptain@SodusBayYC.org
Anybody got an old laptop to
donate to the Club?
Fleet Captain Tommy Knapp is looking for someone with an old but usable
laptop that they could donate to the club to be used to enter finish times
and other race data on the Committee Boat. It doesn't have to be the latest
and greatest, but needs to be sufficient for the purpose at hand. Call
315-483-4864 or Email Fleet Captain Knapp at: FleetCaptain@SodusBayYC.org
Club Photographers Wanted
We are looking for CLUB PHOTOGRAPHERS to help with various projects,
including photographing club events, photographing club members (e.g. the
member picture board), and helping us format and display the photographs
(e.g. on the web site). SBYC SHUTTERBUGS, please polish your lenses, plug
in your smart cards, and Email RearCommodore@SodusBayYC.org to volunteer!
