SBYC SPRING
/ NEW MEMBER DINNER, Saturday, May 13, 6pm
Make your reservations now to celebrate SBYC's annual
rite of spring whence we introduce and honor our new members. We'll also
be having a special new member quiz and SBYC trivia contest with prizes
to reward our established members for turning out to get to know our new
additions!
PORKYBIRD
DINNER, April 29th, 5pm
Come out and eat the other white meat. Annabelle
and Henry Martin will be serving up a Pork Tenderloin Earlybird offering.
Members are asked to bring salad and dessert, and as always, bring your
own place settings!
SMALL
BOAT PROGRAM ORIENTATION, Saturday, May 6th, 2pm
Get started right, and right out of the box, in sailing
SBYC's great Ideal 18 fleet, by attending this year's orientation. Checkout
and safety procedures, polices, as well as Ideal 18 "fleet events" such
as races and fleet sails, will be described and discussed at "The Shack".
If you haven't sent in your Small Boat Program Subscription, bring a check
with you!
PASTA
EARLYBIRD, Saturday, May 6th, 5pm
Mangi! Mangi! It's a pasta din-ner. Joyce Macgregorini
(good Italian name there) says to bring your hungry paisanos, place settings
and a dish to pass. Same earlybird time, same earlybird channel: 5pm chanti
hour, 6pm mangi! Perhaps if enough of us ask, Brian Macgregorini will
be sing the tenor parts from CARMEN...
SBYC MOTHER'S
DAY BRUNCH, Sunday, May 14th, 10am
Show Mom how special she really is! Take her to the
cutest lil' ol' club on the lake for a cooking-and-dishwashing-free-feast
(and eat REAL well in the process)! Hand carved roast beef, breast of turkey,
baked ham, quiche, french toast, roasted red potato, alfredo casserole,
garden rice, sauteed vegetables, pastries, fruit trays, and all the trimmings!
SAIL
PASS BUFFET LUNCHEON, Monday, May 29th
After you work up an appetite by Sailing Past and
celebrating the ceremonial raising of the flags, stick around for lunch!
The club will offer two lunch seatings; --the first at 12:30pm, and the
second at 2pm.
Membership Committee needs volunteers!
Membership Committee is again looking for volunteer
helpers to assist with our new plan. The following are a few particular
areas where we could use help. To volunteer to join the Membership Committee
to help with the following needs, to pitch in on any of our "events", or
to help in any other capacity, please Email RearCommodore@SodusBayYC.org,
or call Michael Shults at 585-230-5759.
WELCOME WAGONOne of the most important aspects to keeping new members once we get them is to get them involved in club activities, and with other members. Membership Committee needs volunteers to help us welcome and assist new members in getting oriented, comfortable, and known around the club.Ideally, the "Welcome Wagon" volunteer or volunteers would take the lead in organizing the SPRING DINNER (where we welcome new members), and in preparing and presenting member welcome packages (including a custom-labeled SBYC directory, burgee, and other welcome gift or gifts).
MEMBER PICTURE BOARD VOLUNTEER SOUGHT!We'd like a volunteer who would take digital pictures of members at the Earlybird and Spring Events, print them out and put them up on a "Member Picture Board" in the clubhouse. This is a great way to put names with faces (and vice-versa)! We'd also like to document these pictures so we could put the "Member Picture Board" in the "Members Only" section of the SBYC Web Site.
WRITERS and STORYTELLERS NEEDEDOne of our goals is to regularly send communications, both to prospective members, and to the boating community as a whole, with items of interest about the club, about boating, and about club and maritime history, as well as just plain talking up all the great things we have going on here. If you can help us create and promulgate Email newsletters to prospective members, and or "press release" type copy to submit to area newspapers, allied organizations, and even (in some cases) to our own membership, please sign up!
PHONE COMMITTEEWe need folks to make calls, to SBYC members and/or member prospects, to make sure they got their invitations, are aware of all the terrific things we have planned, and give them some enthusiastic encouragement to come out and join in the fun!
MAILING HELPWe have lots of printouts to print, copies to copies, envelopes to stuff, and stamps to stick. Can you help?
To volunteer Email RearCommodore@SodusBayYC.org
or call Michael at 585-230-5759.
