Thursday Night Fun Races

Thursday night racing is racing for fun, camaraderie, and learning. It is a joint effort with SBJSA to involve more sailors in the sport of racing. To this end, guests from the nearby marinas on Sodus Bay are invited to race with us and join us at the club afterwards for food, drinks, and conversation.


Boats on the Fun Race course will race white sail (genoa only/no spinnakers). There will be no official scoring and prizes will be for fun.


New to racing? No worries, there will be a 15 minute instructional before the racing begins. We look forward to welcoming you to SBYC and the sport of racing.

4th of July Lighthouse Fun Race

Looking for fun on July 4th? We have it and all are welcome!

Please join us each year for the SBYC annual Light House Fun Race!


No experience necessary, no entry fee, open to any sailboat, skippers encouraged to attend the pre-race meeting July 4th, at SBYC. If you do not normally dock at SBYC, please tie up at any guest slip (Yellow Fender Boards). For more information please contact the Fleet Captain.


Open to everyone, members and nonmembers alike! Handicap ratings to be assigned by the Race Committee. Reduction in rating will be provided for each non-member boat recruited by an SBYC Member.


Scoring will be time on distance, with adjustments for crew happiness level.

Boats in the Water fight division will be penalized for engaging a craft not in the Water Fight division.

Prizes for:

  • Handicap winner,

  • Most direct hits with soakers delivered on target,

  • Crew who had the most fun and others will be awarded at SBYC following the race,
